Secluded in its own jungle garden on Lake Peten Itza, this beautiful hotel is less than 15 minutes from the entrance to Tikal Park and 25 min. from Flores. The hotel is a wonderful place to base your Tikal vacation activities.
It is located in the village of El Remate, between Flores and Tikal. And it is very close to a number of important Mayan ruins in addition to Tikal, such as Yaxha, Nakun, Uaxactun, Zotz, Motul and Ceibal. Also, within a half-hour are: the Sky Way (swinging bridges, jungle walks), the Canopy Tour, Petencito Zoo, & Actun-Can caves. There are a number of ecologically oriented hiking trails and others points of interest within easy walking distance or a 10 min. ride. The hotel rooms are large, well cared for and most have a view of the lake. The grounds are lush and walkways are of beautifully laid native rock. Each hotel room has a private bath, fan or air conditioned with a veranda sitting area. The water is clean and filtered. Our guests say food is excellent and well worth the stop even if you cannot spend the night. Our hotel has 15 rooms..(In the U.S. it would be called a motel or cabins or guest house.)

Most of the year beautiful tropical flowers are throughout
the grounds.

Limited parking is within the hotel's fenced area next to the rooms for convenience and safety. Staff are very helpful and friendly,... and speak broken English perfectly... Laundry service is available and a variety of tours can be arranged on request.

There are Belize Tourism and Information, Guatemala Tourism and Information, Peten Information, and information on other areas, offering maps and informatioin about area tourist attractions in San Ignacio, Belize, Mexico, Palenque, Coban, Rio Dulce, Antigua, Guatemala, Copan, Honduras, and Hotels in many areas. We have a large variety of Guide Books on Central America and Mexico for your reading. there is an almost complete laminated collection of the past articles of the National Geogrpahic about the Maya and other interesting articles about Central America and Guatemala. Just stop in and check. We probably have something to interest you, even if it is just a piece of Rosita's cheese cake or a glass of fresh lemonade.

We accept US cash & travelers checks, There is early morning bus service to/from Tikal, flores ($5.50 R/T), and also to Guatemala city, Coban, Belize, and Chetumal. Our restaurant offers home style meals from $4 to $8 and Breakfast from $2 to $6. If you are staying in the area or just passing by, we welcome your visit.
Breakfast/Lunch 6:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Dinner at 7:00 P.M.

We accept traveler's checks, Belize and U.S. money. We are located along the lake in the village of El Remate right on the road to Tikal. Collective Minibus Services pick up and return from the front of the hotel. Most people find our prices low and a great value. Hope you come and stay with us. If you arrive and we are full, we will help you find another acceptable place.

We pack Tikal lunches EVERYDAY and we have a DINNER SPECIAL every night.
The restaurant closes at 9:00 PM.
Meals are served from 6:00 am until 8:00 pm.and offer a great time to meet people from other countries and share stories and travel opportunities.

More -- La Casa De Don David Hotel and Bungalows are 15 km from the entrance to Tikal Park, Peten, Guatemala. This beautiful hotel is only 20 minutes from the town of Flores, Guatemala. Tikal tours are readily available and it represents one of the very best values available for the adventurous traveler. Hike to the top of Temple IV (212 ft.) and explore the over 25 square miles of ruins. There are hundreds of structures in Tikal, many of which have been rebuilt to near their original condition. Tikal has a wonderful artifact museum on the grounds and a great diorama displaying a mapping of the original site. There are several hotels in the area, but the best value is La Casa De Don David Hotel and Bungalows about 10 minutes due south of the entrance to Tikal National Park. There is a bus that takes anyone directly from the hotel to the Tikal Park that leaves the hotel at 5:30 each morning and other hours. The gate opens at 6:00 am. This allows visitors time to scale the taller temples and view the ground mist burning off the other temples. It is quite a site. Tikal Park is a great treasure in that so much as been done to restore many of the temples to their original condition, yet there are hundred's of sites that have been left as discovered. The trails are marked and one can spend an infinite number of hours walking through the jungle canopy coming up on new sites, monkeys, birds, and other jungle animals and never see the same view. There are quite a number of animals and birds roaming the park grounds, giving a sense of a well kept natural zoo. It is a great experience for all ages. Rosita Kuhn at the hotel, makes box lunches everyday for those wishing to picnic on the grounds. This makes a wonderful day trip, returning to the hotel for a nice dinner to round off the day. Be sure to visit the village of Remate. David's hotel is located in Remate and Remate is becoming world famous as a wood carving center. Beautifully done wood sculpture are available both on display and made to order. The artisans are local and have a wonderful grasp of the many animals, insects, gods, and other items depicted in their carvings. Tikal Park is a large influence on the area, so look for replicas of some of the temples and the dressed figures from the many images in the museum at Tikal Park.
