Los buses públicos salen del mercado de Santa Elena a las 11 am,
12 am,
3 pm y 4pm el costo es de Q5, también salen minibuses

cada hora, estos no tienen una estación formal, el último
sale a
las 6 de la tarde, Si toma un minibus que va a la frontera de belize,
lo dejara en El Cruce "Ixlu". de ahí debe tomar otro bus, taxi o
caminar 2 kilometros. También puede rentar un carro,
pruebe con
Tabarini, Rent-a-car, Hertz o con otras compañias.
Llegando de San Ignacio: No hay
transporte directo de San Ignacio a Flores/remate. Muchas personas
llegan en minibus o bus local a el Cruce de Ixlu. Puede tomar un taxi o
bus local de San Ignacio a la Frontera, y de la frontera tomar un
bus público, taxi o minibus. Los taxis/minibus lo traen por
$40-$50
por cuatro personas o más. Si usted esta
llegando
de Belize solo digale al taxista que viene al Hotel La Casa De Don
David en
El Remate y el lo traerá hasta la puerta del hotel. Si toma un
bus local lo
dejará en el cruce de Ixlu, debe tomar otro bus o taxi o caminar

kilometros. Cuando este en el cruce puede llamarnos al 5306-2190 y si
hay alguien disponible podemos ir a recogerlos sin costo. Llegando/Saliendo de Palenque Viajando
a
Flores hay transporte muy temprano en la mañana, chequee con su
agencia de viajes una vez que este en Palenque. El viaje dura
aproximadamente 8 horas en minibus-lancha-minibus ($35 a $45 por
persona)
llega a Flores aproximadamente a las 4 de la tarde. De Belice en automovil: Pare en la
aduana y pague derecho de entrada de vehículo. Salga de la
aduana y
Cruce el puente pequeño pagando Q5 de derecho para cruzar el
puente, al pasar Melchor. Hay partes malas en el
asfalto
que
existe, maneje con mucho cuidado y no a alta velocidad. Son alrededor
de
60 km., se lleva cerca de 1hr. 15 min. en carro, un poco más
viajando
en bus. Al llegar al cruce de Ixlu doble a la izquierda, El hotel
está 2 km. a la izquierda, luego de pasar el
cruce
Ixlu. Esta es una intersección de los caminos a Flores, Tikal y

Hotel and
Bungalows are 15 km from the entrance to Tikal Park, Peten, Guatemala.
This beautiful hotel is only 20 minutes from the town of Flores and
Santa
Eleana. Tikal tours are readily available and it represents one of the
very best values available for the adventurous traveler. Hike to the
top
of Temple IV (212 ft.) and explore the over 25 square miles of ruins.
There
are hundreds of structures in Tikal, many of which have been rebuilt to
near their original condition. Tikal has a wonderful artifact museum on
the grounds and a great diorama displaying a mapping of the original
site.
There are several hotels in the area, but the best value is La Casa De
Don David Hotel and Bungalows about 10 minutes due south of the
entrance
to Tikal National Park. There is a bus that takes anyone directly from
the hotel to the Tikal park that leaves the hotel at 5:30 each
morning
and other hours. The gate opens at 6:00 am. This allows visitors time
to
scale the taller temples and view the ground mist burning off the other
temples. It is quite a site. Tikal is a great treasure in that so much
as been done to restore many of the temples to their original
condition,
yet there are hundred's of sites that have been left as discovered. The
trails are marked and one can spend an infinite number of hours walking
through the jungle canopy coming up on new sites, monkeys, birds, and
other
jungle animals and never see the same view. There are quite a
number
of animals and birds roaming the park grounds, giving a sense of a well
kept natural zoo. It is a great experience for all
ages.
Rosita Kuhn at the hotel, makes box lunches everyday for those wishing
to picnic on the grounds. This makes a wonderful day trip, returning to
the hotel for a nice dinner to round off the day. The hotel is
one

Be sure
to
visit the village of Remate. David's hotel is located in Remate and
Remate
is becoming world famous as a wood carving center. Beautifully done
wood
sculpture are available both on display and made to order. The
artisans
are local and have a wonderful grasp of the many animals, insects,
gods,
and other items depicted in their carvings. Tikal is a large influence
on the area, so look for replicas of some of the temples and the
dressed

For shopping,
spend
the day in Flores, making the shops and then on to the Mercado or
market
in Santa Eleana. The cloth, carvings, clothing, jewelry, and pottery
are
wonderful bargains in Flores. Many of the shop owners live behind their
shops and are also the artisans of the wares that are for sale. Flores
boasts a beautiful old cathedral, cobblestone streets, and a beautiful
setting well out from shore in the clear water lake Peten. Boat
rides
are available for a nice change from your hiking at Tikal. The
restaurants
are good quality and price, specializing in localfish and beef. The
town
of Santa Eleana is a short walk over the causeway back to the mainland.
It has most shops, businesses, and services you might need. It has
several
bank branches, a very large typical market, fair grounds, and seems
safe.
Bottled water is available most everywhere. The airport is about 2
miles
south of Santa Eleana. Cabs are readily available. Information
